CAST YOUR BALLOT
It’s put up
or shut up.
Election day.
Socialist/democracy at work.
Swear your love to a party of your choice,
Or just swear; divinely,
profoundly,
because yours didn’t get in.
Either way, it doesn’t matter.
Nothing’s changed.
Politics:
the side show
that believes it’s the whole circus.
Blind fervor insights us
like a herd of painted elephants,
tails tied,
to the candidate with the best PR,
most appallingly unapologetic
pack of lies.
The big top never changes, you see,
it merely gets relocated.
Acts come and go.
Some are dismissed.
Others celebrated.
The perpetual audition caters
the voter’s fickle affliction.
In the end, the finale is always the same -
We may not get the clown we want,
but inevitably, the one we deserve!
